“In 1999 Dave called me when he was on a stag do in New York and said 'Kath don't fly next week we are going up to Yorkshire to look at a Hotel.'
I said ok as I really wanted to get back to my roots in Yorkshire but never for one minute did I really think that I would be giving up my career as an intensive care aeromedical flight sister repatriating patients worldwide.
So... tongue in cheek I came to look at what was then The Hawnby Hotel 10 weeks later we moved from London to the North Yorkshire Moors.
Boy what an interesting journey we have had since then!
Dave (originally from Ontario Canada) has always worked in catering. He had a vision that we could make a wonderful life living and working in such an idyllic village.
Hawnby is a special place with very lovely people. We have been shown immense kindness from family, friends and local people as we have developed our business.
We have had two children Isobel and Matthew since we have lived here. They are privileged to have an upbringing in such a beautiful place.
We want people to be able to have a holiday in our award winning INN, rest from the stress of everyday life, enjoy beautiful food which is created by our head chef and our team, to be looked after in a laid back professional manner and to experience an INN that is loved and cared for. Finally to enjoy the amazing scenery that we are so fortunate to live around
